The level of pollution in rivers

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) , State Pollution Control Boards of the country's 28 states and 6 union territories along 445 rivers in 1275 is monitoring water quality at various locations. Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) 121 rivers in the country based on the standards of CPCB has identified 150 contaminated sites. Anaupcharit is considered the largest source of pollution in rivers.       A study conducted by CPCB in 2009-10 was in the range - the cities and class - two cities daily 38 , 254 million liters of sewage is born , while refining their available capacity of 11 787 million liters per day. Union Forest and Environment Minister Dr. M.
