Board (CPCB) , State Pollution Control
Boards of the country's 28 states and 6 union territories along 445 rivers in
1275 is monitoring water quality at various locations.
Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand
(BOD) 121 rivers in the country based on the standards of CPCB has identified
150 contaminated sites. Anaupcharit is considered the largest source of
pollution in rivers.
A study conducted
by CPCB in 2009-10 was in the range - the cities and class - two cities daily
